This plugin allows you to send notifications to a Slack channel when you publish updates from Figma. We use this plugin to notify the team of changes to our design system libraries. This plugin needs to be configured in each library, so you will need to follow the configuration steps 3 - 7 to set it up for each library.
Before you can configure the plugin, you will need to have the Version History plugin installed. If it isn’t already installed, you can do so using the following link: Version History plugin.
In the browser, visit Figma.com and select your profile in the upper right. In the dropdown menu, select Settings.

This will open a modal which you will need to scroll until you reach the Personal Access Tokens section. In the text input, name your token Version History Slack Plugin and hit enter.

Copy the generated API key and paste into the API key field in the Version History plugin. You can use this same API key for any library and do not need to create a unique key each time.

In the library, copy the Share URL for the library by selecting the Share button in the upper right. Paste into the Document URL field in the Version History plugin.
The document name is used in the slack channel to show the library for which the update applies. Because we publish updates from all of our libraries in this channel, it’s important to set this name so we can distinguish between libraries. The emoji prefix in the name is used as an icon identifier to make it easier to quickly identify the library without having to read the full name (which can be easily missed).
