Tradesy leverages Figma Libraries to organize and work with our design system elements. We are actively maintaining and evolving our libraries as we work and have a Roadmap in Figma that you can check out if you are interested in more context around the growth path.

Component Library The Component Library contains the custom components that are used to compose the Tradesy product experience across the Web, iOS and Android platforms.
Core Brand Library The Core Brand Library contains all of the base styles that comprise our core brand elements, including: logos, color palette, and app icons.
Email Library The Email Library contains all of the components and styles used to create Tradesy’s email templates.
Typography Library The Typography Library contains all of the type styles used across Tradesy experiences, including: Web, iOS and Android type styles.
Utilities Library The Utilities Library contains components that are ancillary to the product design process, including: annotations and native platform UI elements.

These libraries should be activated for all Tradesy team members, but in the event that you do not have access to them, use the following steps to access and turn on these libraries for use in your files:

  1. Use Command + / to open the Figma search dialog
  2. Type Libraries into the dialog and hit enter
  3. Turn on the Libraries you want to use in your files with their toggle switches

Overview

Tradesy Libraries are a constant work in progress — we are evolving them to keep pace with our work, our teams, and our tooling so we can create best-in-class experiences. Evolving systems need indicators of what’s production ready, what is in flight, and what is not ready to use so that our teams can understand how the libraries should be leveraged in their own work. Tradesy uses an emoji system to clearly indicate the status of a page within a library.

Emoji Meaning
❇️ Components and contents of this page are production-ready and should be used.
🔜 Components and content of this page are in-flight and are almost ready for use in production. Designers should feel free to explore the contents and check out the current status of the components, but any content here should be use with caution, as it is subject to change.
⛔️ Components and content of this page are not ready for use in production, do not use.

Publishing Changes to a Library

After you’ve completed your design work on a component in a Library, you need to publish your changes so they are available to the rest of the team leveraging that Library. To publish the changes, select the down arrow next to the Library name at the top of your Figma file and select the Publish styles and components item from the menu options.

When publishing changes to a Library, it is a best practice to let the team know what changes have been made and published to the team so they can decide when and how to pull down the updates to the Library. We use the description field in the Publish dialogue to communicate these messages.

The descriptions should be brief but descriptive enough to give the reader an understanding of what was changed. We recommend the following format for your descriptions:
